Anna Birnhuber is a molecular microbiologist delineating pathomechanisms leading to interstitial lung disease associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc). She could show the complexity of structural cell–immune cell interactions and how these are influenced by different therapeutic approaches. Currently, she aims to shed light on how molecular alterations within endothelial cells contribute to SSc.
