Elisabeth Fließer is a molecular biologist, who investigates the crucial role of endothelial cells in the development and progression of pulmonary fibrosis (PF). She revealed that endothelial cells in PF are not only structurally abnormal, but also hyper-activated and impaired in maintaining their proper integrity. Currently, she is working on the identification of underlying molecular pathways that drive endothelial abnormalities in PPF with the goal to uncover potential future therapy targets.
